A consultation into a major development which would see 2,000 homes built around Mill Hill East is being organised by Barnet Council, with the public invited to give their views on how they think the area should be planned.
The council and Mayor of London Ken Livingstone highlighted the 124-acre site in 2004 as one which could be suitable for 2,000 homes, due to its proximity to Mill Hill East Tube station and the M1 motorway.
The Ministry of Defence, the area's biggest landholder, will be moving its personnel and facilities - including the British Forces Post Office - from Inglis Barracks, in Mill Hill, to RAF Northolt, in west London, next summer.
An exhibition was held by the council on October 5, detailing the site and its key issues, including infrastructure, types of housing and open space.
Members of the public can give their feedback online, by emailing planning.enquiries @barnet.gov.uk by October 27, for inclusion in the council's development framework', a statutory planning document.
When giving feedback, people are asked to consider the types of housing, employment and business needs and their location, the siting of the main entrances and roads, the kinds of community facilities needed and the types of open spaces there should be.
A public exhibition on the different options will be staged either later this year or early next year.
