The funeral of former Times Series editor Dennis Signy will take place at Hendon Crematorium next week.
The 85-year-old died at his home on Tuesday night surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Further tributes to the former Football Writers’ Association chairman, who worked as a PR consultant at Barnet FC, have come in to the Times Series since the announcement.
Deputy leader of the Barnet Labour group, Councillor Barry Rawlings, said: “This is very sad news. Dennis was completely committed to community life in Barnet as editor of the Times Series and was especially devoted to Barnet Football Club and its support and encouragement to local young people.
“Everyone who met Dennis appreciated his wicked sense of humour and admired his contribution to public life in the borough. We’ll miss him.”
Mr Signy will be cremated in the south chapel at Hendon Crematorium, in Holders Hill Road, at 10.45am on Thursday, June 14.
