After reading the Hendon & Finchley Times (Nurse's job at risk', September 21), I felt physically sick about the proposed cuts that Barnet Hospital is proposing relating to Bella Dale's job as breastfeeding co-ordinator.

As a mum who was keen to breast feed but found it very difficult and had no real support from my own health visitor, I was delighted and relieved to find Bella.

She supported me through a really tough time. I was emotionally very low and she provided telephone support as well as her Friday morning group. She showed me that I could breast feed and I did so until my son was one.

I was introduced to many mothers from all walks of life, both young and not so young, and have managed to keep in contact with many of them.

Barnet is very lucky to have such a dedicated member of staff, who is devoted to her job and the people she meets. She is an inspiration to other staff.

If anything, the hospital should be promoting her and her role, not redeploying her.
