A CAMPAIGNER fighting the proposed sale of a football ground for housing says he has been denied permission to speak at a meeting.
Barnet Council’s Tory administration has been advised by officers to give authorisation for the conclusion of negotiations to flog Hendon FC’s former stadium, in Claremont Road, at a meeting on Thursday.
Gordon Kerr is fighting the plans saying any development at the site would violate covenants dating back to the 1920s, preserving it for community use.
He now says he has been denied the right to speak at the committee meeting where the decision is due to be taken.
He said: “I think it’s astonishing that we should be denied the opportunity to present the unadulterated facts to the councillors.”
The council says it cannot comment until after the meeting.
