AN arts centre in North Finchley is “delighted” to have secured annual funding from Arts Council England.
Under the Arts Council’s national portfolio organisation artsdepot in Nether Street is set to receive between £300,000 and £315,000 from 2012 to 2015.
Artsdepot was praised for its programme for children and young people which provides weekly Sunday theatre shows and numerous workshops including acting, dance, music and art.
In its report Arts Council also said the centre’s associate artists’ scheme which helps companies develop theatre productions is “beginning to thrive”.
Tracy Cooper, chief executive, said: “We are pleased the Arts Council has acknowledged artsdepot as a vibrant, valued and successful venue, allowing us to maintain our integral role in the local community.
“We are grateful as this decision allows us to confidently plan for artsdepot to remain a vital part of North London life."
Artsdepot has said the cash “softens the blow” after Barnet Council’s decision to cut its £194,000 annual core funding as of today.
