CUSTOMERS are invited to have their say on the reopening and relocation of a Post Office in New Southgate.
The branch in 376-378 Bowes Road is proposed to move along the street to 468 Heath News.
Since its closure in September 2006 following the expiry of the sub postmaster’s contract, Post Office Ltd have been exploring ways to continue providing the service.
The premises would be fitted with a ramp and a wide door as well as a low-level serving counter and a hearing loop to assist customers with hearing aids.
Post Office products and services would be available including online Lottery facilities, automated banking, bill and budget payment schemes and postal orders.
Customers would still be able to collect benefits in cash using the everyday banking services or Post Office card account.
A spokesperson for Post Office said: “We will be trialling this new service over the next twelve months.
“During this time Post Office Ltd will be carefully monitoring the situation to make sure this Post Office meets the needs of the local community and would provide a commercially viable alternative to the way our services are currently offered.
“As such, the success of the trial is, to a great extent, reliant on customers using the Post Office on a regular basis and we will be reviewing the situation and any customer feedback over the coming months."
Customers are invited to send their feedback for consideration before the consultation period ends on Thursday May 12.
Submissions can be made by post to Post Office Ltd, c/o National Consultation Team, PO Box 2060, Watford WD18 8ZW, emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk, by textphone on 08457 22 33 55 or via the customer helpline on 08457 22 33 44.
