A RESIDENT from Barnet has been chosen to take part in a volunteering programme at a nature reserve in the borough.
The World of Difference programme will sponsor Annabel Foskett to volunteer at Friends of Barnet Countryside Centre in Byng Road for two months.
The charity runs an education centre which was set up in 1975 as a nature reserve for schoolchildren in the area and its 7.5 acres are a Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation.
It continues to facilitate school visits led either by class teachers or a teacher at the centre.
Ms Foskett chose the charity in order to inspire interest and appreciation for nature and will offer her skills to support the educational programme and environmental management.
She said: “I’m really excited to be taking part in the programme and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with my local community and helping with the work of the centre.”
