JAPANESE families at a Mill Hill school led a drive to raise funds for people affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami.
Pupils at The Mount School, which is attended by 38 Japanese families, organised a talent show and took a collection in return for origami gifts to help the Red Cross appeal to help those hit by the massive quake on March 11.
On the Monday following the disaster the headteacher held a special assembly to talk to the pupils about the disaster and explain what was happening.
On Friday children were charged £1 each to watch the show which was won by four girls from Year 4 who sang a beautiful Japanese song.
Parents and children also took a collection before and after school all week, giving origami ornaments in return for a donation from parents at the Milespit Hill school.
With the help of the school Parliament they managed to raise £500, all of which will be donated towards the appeal.
