THOUSANDS of people from across the country will march through central London this afternoon protesting against government cuts.
Barnet residents and activists will be at March for the Alternative, a show of strength from groups around the UK who disagree with heavy cuts being handed down to the public sector by the Coalition Government.
Barnet Alliance for Public Services formed last year and has blamed ministers and the council for the deep spending cuts.
The march is due to begin at Victoria Embankment at 11am, and union organisers have plotted a route which will end with a mass rally in Hyde Park starting at around 1.30pm.
Unions are expecting a large turn out for this afternoon's rally, with coach loads of people expected to descend on the capital from around the UK.
