Contrary to Hilary Franklin’s feelings about Avenue House, (‘Let it be a park for public again, Your Views, March 17), I am feeling very upset.
I set up, run and manage a support group for people with eating disorders, some of whom attend are very unwell.
We have used Avenue House since the group started eight years ago.
The staff are lovely and I am always treated well, with warmth, joy and respect as I run a service that is part NHS-funded to help very vulnerable people.
The manager of Avenue Estate Trust, Janett Durrant and her team go out of their way to help me, such as subsidising the room hire fee when my budget was cut by the local authority last year.
If Avenue House goes, I have to move and it has been an absolute nightmare trying to find a warm, welcoming , decent venue within my limited budget.
Other valuable voluntary organisations that work with vulnerable people will be affected too.
We are fortunate Barnet is a very affluent borough. If you can help out Avenue House, or my group, we would be extremely grateful.
