A YACHTSMAN and former army commando from Arkley is set to take on his first skydive to raise money for charity.

Lawrence Taylor, 45, will make the 10,000 feet skydive at Old Sarum Airfield in Wiltshire on Saturday March 26.

The money he raises will go to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust which Mr Taylor said “was a real help” to the daughter of a close friend who died of cervical cancer last summer.

Sarah Rutter lived in Wiltshire and died aged 25-years-old.

Mr Taylor said: “I’ve served with the British Commando Forces, sailed single-handed around the world and I am terrified of this jump.

“But it’s nothing compared to Sarah’s young life being cut short.

“This is about honouring Sarah and trying to help other women.”

Susan Rutter, Sarah's mum, said: "It is very, very special that Lawrence is doing this skydive in memory of my daughter.

“Sarah lived with a passion and loved outdoor sports.

“It is fitting that Lawrence should be doing something so spectacular in her name to help other women facing cervical cancer and abnormalities."
