A CHARITY hosted a fancy dress party for adults with learning disabilities and staff to celebrate the festival of Purim.
Over 100 guests attended Norwood’s event at Jewish Community Secondary School in East Barnet on Tuesday March 22.
The festival commemorates a story in the biblical Book of Esther when Jews living in ancient Persia were saved from extermination in the wake of a plot by a Persian noble called Haman.
Following the Purim tradition guests arrived in a variety of colourful costumes and took part in a Megillah performance which retells the biblical story.
The adults, who live in Norwood residential or supported living accommodation, also had a chance to show off their moves on the dance floor.
Shoshana Bloom, the charity's Jewish cultural manager, said: “Jewish culture is at the centre of everything we do here at Norwood and we are always exploring ways in which to make it even more vibrant, fun and meaningful for the people we support.”
