A FORMER chemotherapy patient from Potters Bar has donated £600 to Barnet Hospital to help cancer sufferers.
Janice Leverett, 56, of Aberdale Gardens, raised the money with her sister and daughter over the past few months and presented it to staff on Wednesday, March 16.
By pestering friends and family for donations, they have managed to secure enough to buy a special reclining chair for patients in chemotherapy.
The group also gave three portable DVD players, as Mrs Leverett said this was a great help and form of escapism to her when she underwent treatment for breast cancer in 2008.
Mrs Leverett said: “I remember when I had treatment there were still some office style chairs that patients had to sit in.
“With losing your hair and feeling sick, I can tell you, you don't want to be uncomfortable too. I hope this will help patients in their recovery.”
Mrs Leverett said she would carrying on fundraising to buy another chemotherapy chair and had already secured a further £200.
