A “GREATLY loved” teenager killed in a road crash in Colindale wanted to be a car engineer, according to one of his teachers.
The funeral of Zeeshan Tahir, 18, of Springfield Mount, Kingsbury, is set to take place today, after he died in a crash in Colindeep Lane on Wednesday.
Dozens of flowers, balloons, cards and teddy bears have been left at the scene of the collision by distressed classmates and friends.
The Hendon School pupil was set to take exams in travel and tourism this summer, but assistant deputy head Fred Asquith said his dream was to go to university to study car engineering.
He said: “There’s a deep sense of sadness and loss, he was greatly loved by students and staff alike. He was renowned for his generous smile.
“He loved cars and was looking forward to going to university to study motor vehicle engineering, that was his dream.
“He was one of those students who was never in trouble and was a real pleasure for us to teach. He was always supportive of his friends and was renowned for his sweet nature and disposition.”
On Thursday the school was closed early as a mark of respect and a candle was lit in the sixth form common room to “keep his spirit alive”, with a memorial service planned for next week.
Mr Asquith added: “On Friday students and teachers went to visit his family throughout the day and they have been greatly heartened by the support they have been shown.”
