THE owners of a bar stripped of its alcohol licence after complaints from neighbours about noise have vowed to appeal the decision.
On Tuesday Barnet Council’s licensing committee took the permit away from the Fudu Lounge in North Finchley after police and trading standards officers said they had “lost confidence” in the management.
Problems reported included loud music being played despite not being allowed in the condition of the original licence, and alcohol being sold two hours after the bar should have closed.
An unauthorised shisha smoking terrace also added to the problems, said councillors.
However, Ramin Ghaediri, a co-owner of the bar, said they would appeal the decision and claimed the enforcement officers did not have enough evidence to bring a licence review.
He added: “This is our livelihood. The councillors did not have enough evidence to take away our bar.
“We want to create a family restaurant not open after 12am which can be used by the whole community.
“We are business owners and we pay our rates and taxes and they are not supporting local business. We have eight people’s jobs we are trying to save now.”
He said the company was still appealing the decision by Barnet Council not to allow a retrospective planning application for the shisha terrace.
The appeal means the bar can remain open until a court case at Hendon Magistrates Court, which could take months to come through.
