PLANS have been drawn up to move the Post Office in Edgware.
A public consultation has been launched to get resident’s views on the proposal to shift from its current site at the end of Station Road closest to the A5 to an empty the other side of the station.
The current contract with Fontise Ltd for the office at 74 Station Road has run out, but a new agent has offered to take on the franchise, and proposed moving to the ex-Completely Kids store.
Under the plans there would be a coffee shop, cards and stationery as well as the Post Office counter.
A statement from the Post Office said: “Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services to the local community in the longer term.
“The same wide range of Post Office products and services will continue to be available, including personal banking, car tax renewal, Post Office card account, financial services, passport application checking and foreign currency services.
“The premises will have level access with a wide door. Internally there will be a low-level serving counter, a low-level writing desk, space for a wheelchair and a hearing loop. There is pay and display roadside parking available within five yards of the premises.”
The consultation, which has been extended by two days to account for the Easter break, closes on Thursday, April 28.
