A SERIES of drop-in sessions are being held across the borough to help people complete their census forms.

The compulsory survey is now dropping through residents' doors across Barnet, with the results helping to determine how much funding the area gets.

Services such as health, police and council grants are determined by the demographics and population figures established through the questions.

Every household in England and Wales is required to complete the form sent out by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) every ten years.

This year, the form must be completed and returned on Sunday, March 27, or as near as possible to that date.

To help people make sense of the form, ONS representatives will be in libraries, with Barnet Council hoping to improve on the 88 per cent completion rate of 2001.

Barnet Council leader Lynne Hillan said: "The response to the census helps to make sure Barnet's services get the right level of government funding.

“As a rough estimate, we've worked out each completed census is worth about £290 a year to the borough, so I encourage all residents to keep an eye out for their form and return it as soon as possible."
