STUDENTS from Barnet College have been lending a helping hand to community projects in a range of volunteering activities.
Two volunteering fairs were held this week at the Grahame Park and High Barnet campuses with a range of organisations like Barnados, the police, the Red Cross and Victim support present.
Several students have already been involved in volunteering projects, including supervising a skate park for youngsters in Barnet during half term.
Principal Marilyn Hawkins said: "Volunteering is a great way for students to engage with the local community at the same time as developing real workplace experience.
"I am delighted that so many of our students help keep the Barnet community vibrant by giving their time to help at such a wide range of projects.
"I don't know whether this is what the Government means when it talks about the Big Society, but it just shows how embedded our students are in the wider community."
