A PUPIL at a school in Cricklewood has been crowned a chess champion.
Neda Shkouee, from Whitefield School, in Claremont Road, is the under-14 Barnet and Middlesex Chess Champion after winning the Barnet Schools Chess Association, Girls Chess Tournament.
Neda, who started to play chess in Iran, played six games, winning four and drawing two.
After the event, which was hosted by Barnet's Queen Elizabeth's School for Boys, in Queen's Road, Neda said: “I enjoyed the games, although I was very tired having played six games in one day.
“However, when I won I felt very proud.”
