TRADING standards officers have asked councillors to look at whether a north Finchley bar should keep its alcohol licence after being accused of selling alcohol to children and other offences.
The Fudu Lounge, in Tally Ho Corner, will find out whether it will lose its licence tomorrow, after claims “the premises on a number of occasions have sold alcohol to children under the age of 18”.
The bar was granted a licence by councillors last April, after formerly called the Embassy Lounge, it was stripped of its licence following a string of problems in 2008.
The review application states residents complained to Barnet Council about loud music coming from the bar in late October and November, alleging it had played loud music after the extended hours permitted.
Other problems related to an unlicensed Shisha terrace on the roof of the club which the owners had agreed to stop using until the hearing.
However, on December 10, two licensing officers claim they visited the bar just before 1am, when it was meant to shut at 11pm, and saw people being served in the Shisha area and loud music being played.
At the end of a list of concerns, the application states: “In conclusion, due to our concerns with the management's ability to operate these premises in compliance with their premises licence, we ask the committee to consider the revocation of this licence.”
Comments from nearby neighbours in the papers have also accused managers of a “callous disregard” towards them.
Police licensing officer Sergeant Mark Altman added police had “lost all confidence” in the licensees and asked councillors on the committee to take it away.
The hearing will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, March 15, at Hendon Town Hall.
