SQUATTERS living in a home owned by the Gaddafi family are letting people from another nearby squat use the house to shower in.
A group calling themselves Topple the Tyrants has taken residence in the £11m Winnington Close mansion, which has eight bedrooms, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and cinema room.
The group, which includes several Libyans, say they will not leave until the house, which was frozen by the British Government, is turned over to the Libyan people.
They are refusing to allow journalists or photographers into the house, but are allowing people from another nearby squat in the affluent area to use their facilities.
Over the course of the day more people have been coming to the house in an attempt to gain access, with many being allowed in as long as they knew the correct “password”.
But one neighbour, who asked not to be named said there was a fear pro-Gaddafi demonstrators could come and seek reprisals in the quiet cul-de-sac.
He said: “I would like to see some kind of police presence here to keep the peace. It has crossed my mind there could be some pro-Gaddafi people out there who may be upset by this.
“I have actually seen them here a couple of times, but not for several months now. I had spoken to one of the security guards who was British and he explained who they were. It didn’t bother me, all manner of people live here.
“There are a lot of film crews and photographers hanging around now which is a pain in the backside.”
He added the squatters, who are from a range of nationalities, would probably gain more public sympathy if they were all Libyans.
