Recently, my wife had an appointment with her doctor in Edgware and eventually found a meter, which like most others, was broken with a notice to phone in to arrange parking.

My wife is a pensioner and partially deaf and cannot use a mobile in the street because of outside noises.

A meter attendant was most difficult, insisting she drive around to find somewhere to park where no charge was required.

This caused her a lot of anxiety knowing she was now likely to be late for her appointment.

We are law-abiding citizens, but find this situation untenable.
