A GANG of raiders attacked a man in a family home in Potters Bar on Saturday night.
The three men knocked on the door of the Highview Gardens house just after 10pm, but when the homeowner answered they barged in and demanded cash and other items.
During the ordeal they attacked the man, who suffered rib injuries, and told the couple, whose children were at home at the time, they had a gun.
DC Sally Muntane, of the Borehamwood local crime unit, said: “This is a particularly scary incident for the couple whose children were also inside the property at the time.
“I would reassure people that this doesn’t happen very often in Potters Bar or indeed the rest of the county, and we believe that the offenders had meant to target another property.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area that evening and believes they saw or heard any suspicious behaviour. You may have seen the offenders acting suspiciously or seen the car drive off at speed.”
The gang escaped in a silver Peugeot with several valuable items.
Anyone with information should call police on 0845 33 00 222, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
