THE mansion owned by the Gaddafi family in Hampstead Garden Suburb has been put up for sale.
A sign appeared outside the eight-bedroom Winnington Close property, bought in 2009 for a reported £9m by Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the Libyan dictator’s second son.
Neighbours said they have not seen anyone living at the property, which has several security cameras, for more than a year.
One added there are regular patrols by a security firm on the street and gardeners also come in to do routine maintenance.
Although no price has yet been revealed by agents Knight Frank a similar seven-bed property on nearby Winnington Road is for sale at £8.5m.
Yesterday Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer called for the Government to seize the property to prevent any of the family members making use of it and any money from its sale returned to the Libyan people.
It is just one street away from the so-called “billionaires row” of Bishops Avenue.
