POLICE have pledged to take money from a drug dealer caught with more than £10,000 in cash after he burgled an Enfield home.
Edson Vilhete, 30, was jailed for three years and seven months at Wood Green Crown Court last Thursday for possession of cocaine, burglary and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
The Denham Road, New Southgate resident was arrested after his blood was found on broken glass of a burgled home in Woodgrange Gardens, Enfield, last July.
Police finally caught up with him at a car auction in September and ewhen they searched his vehicle they found £800 in cash.
They then searched his home and uncovered the huge haul of money as well as a large mount of class A and B drugs and equipment for measuring and taking them.
At the time he claimed they belonged to a friend of his called Pablo, but admitted the offences in court, where it was revealed he had a record for drug possession.
PC Aamer Khan of the Barnet crime squad said: “This man was clearly involved in the supply of cannabis and was making large amounts of money from it.
“Our financial unit will be taking action to take this money away from him. This man is a burglar and a drug dealer and therefore a double blight on society, the prison sentence reflects the harm men like this inflict.
“The money seized from Vilhete will hopefully be used to put some of this harm to rights.”
