A PAEDOPHILE who murdered a seven-year-old boy in an East Finchley tower block has been found dead in his prison cell.
Colin Hatch, 38, was found dead in his cell in the maximum security Full Sutton prison near York yesterday evening.
A 35-year-old prisoner has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held in custody at the prison.
Humberside Police said they had been called to the prison just after 7.20pm last night to reports of an “incident”, but just after 8pm were informed an inmate had died.
Hatch was jailed in 1994 for Sean Williams to his flat in Norfolk Close, where he sexually assaulted and strangled him.
A postman found his body taped up and dumped in a lift.
He had been released on parole just months earlier following a sex attack on another boy, when his lawyer warned he would end up killing a child.
When he was sentenced to life in 1994 Judge Nina Lowry said he was “highly dangerous” and could not forsee a time when he could be released.
He had five previous convictions dating back to when he was just 15-years-old for sex attacks on boys.
A post mortem is due to be carried out later today to establish the exact cause of death.
