STUDENTS at Middlesex University helped to create a music video for pop star, Ellie Goulding.
A team of second and third year product design and engineering (PDE) undergraduates created light and camera effects for Ellie’s new single, Lights.
They built and operated a rig of 50 cameras to simultaneously capture white images against a black background which were edited together.
The pictures, including houses, telephones and light bulbs were then filmed with Ellie whose hits include Starry Eyed and a cover of Elton John's Your Song.
Second-year PDE student, Ahmed Patel, said: “The opportunity to apply our learning in an industry setting was fantastic and we felt flattered to have our expertise recognised by the music industry, as well as being invited to work for such a high profile singer.
“The experience will be great for our personal development as upcoming designers.”
Moritz Waldemeyer, a designer known for his fusion of technology, art and fashion, selected the team after he was impressed by the photography techniques they demonstrated in filming a TV clip for Mercedes-Benz.
Mr Waldemeyer said: “It was great to have the Middlesex University students on board at the shoot and it was a massive help.
“The success of filming is reflected in the innovative video.”
