RESIDENTS have taken photographs to create a snapshot of life in Friern Barnet to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Finchley Society.
More than 150 pictures were taken on Friday, February 11, to mark the occasion with a record of the area on that day.
The society, which aims to conserve and explore historic features, encouraged people to capture anything in the community such as the streets, fields, traffic or even their homes and gardens.
The photo had to be taken in the old areas of the borough of Finchley and the Urban District of Friern Barnet which falls between Brook Farm in the north, The Spaniards Inn in the south, and from the Finchley Golf Club in the west to the Friern Bridge Retail Park in the east.
Derek Warren, secretary of the public relations committee said: “I am really pleased with the response.
“We have pictures of high roads, people walking in the streets and in the tube stations, the work starting at Henlys Corner and traffic – they give an all round idea of what was happening in the area that day.”
The photographs will be added to the society’s archive at Avenue House in East End Road, Finchley.
