ALL of the PCs and PCSOs on safer neighbourhood teams in Barnet will be kept, it has been revealed.
Each of the 21 wards is set to retain its two constables and six community support officers, after uncertainty about the future of the teams because of funding cuts.
However, it is still not clear how many sergeants will be cut from the teams, and is likely some will be asked to take control of two teams.
Figures to be released this week show more than 4,500 extra patrols have happened in Barnet since last January when officers were asked to walk the beat alone.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “For millions of us it is absolutely vital we see more police on our streets.
“It gives us the confidence to get on with our lives. Since we introduced single patrols in London we have seen a remarkable increase in visible policing.
“Next year we will be able to increase this even further and I plan to invest an extra £42m in the Metropolitan Police, making our great city even safer for the people who live here.”
