BRITISH Red Cross is inviting residents to form a fundraising group to run events and collections in the borough.

The charity runs various community services across London such as first aid training and refugee services.

Its trained volunteers provide support to the emergency services and home visits and reassurance for the vulnerable.

Naomi Kibrit, community fundraiser for the Red Cross in London, said: “We think Barnet has fantastic potential for charitable giving and we want to hear from those who think they might enjoy getting together with like-minded people every now and again to hold fundraising initiatives.”

Residents could hold coffee mornings, run sponsored sport events, volunteer to collect donations using the charity’s collection buckets or come up with their own innovative idea.

Ms Kibrit said: “We have great feedback from group members who are so pleased to have found an activity which is sociable, fun, creative and worthwhile.

“The funds raised by our local groups form a significant contribution to our work and we’d love the people of Barnet to get involved.”
