THE Finchley Society is inviting everyone to take a photograph and create a snapshot of life in Finchley and Friern Barnet.
The society celebrates its 40th anniversary on Friday February 11 and would like to mark the occasion with a record of the area on that day.
The group was formed in 1971 to preserve and improve buildings, transport, roads and open spaces.
People are asked to take a picture of anything in the community such as the streets, fields, traffic or even their homes or gardens.
The photo must be taken in the old areas of the borough of Finchley and the Urban District of Friern Barnet which falls between Brook Farm in the north, The Spaniards Inn in the south, and from the Finchley Golf Club in the west to the Friern Bridge Retail Park in the east.
Derek Warren, secretary of the public relations committee said: “Our archives are full of pictures of Finchley in the bygone days, we thought it would be nice to add our own record of what’s happening in the area today.”
The photographs will be added to the society’s archive at Avenue House in East End Road, Finchley and some of the best will be shown in the Hendon & Finchley Times.
Submitted pictures can be sent via email to web@finchleysociety.org.uk or by post to Derek Warren, 83 Wentworth Avenue, N3 1YN and should include the location and time it was taken as well as the details of the photographer.
