THE Chief Rabbi said he was “moved” emotionally after a visit to a care campus in Golders Green.

Lord Jonathan Sacks and his wife, Lady Elaine Sacks attended Maurice and Vivienne Wohl Campus in Golders Green Road on Monday February 7.

Jewish Care is a health and social care charity and runs the campus which offers services for the elderly and people who have a disability or mental health issue.

It includes a nursing and dementia care home, 45 apartments and a community centre for older people.

Accompanied by the charity’s chairman, Stephen Zimmerman, and its chief executive, Simon Morris, Lord and Lady Sacks toured the campus.

They met residents and staff at Selig Court, the independent living apartments and Otto Schiff, the care home.

They also visited the Michael Sobell Community Centre which offers older people a range of activities from reflexology and keep fit sessions to art classes and creative writing groups.

Lord Sacks said: “I don’t know when I have been more moved by an Anglo-Jewish project.

“The physical beauty of the Maurice and Vivienne Wohl campus is only exceeded by its spiritual beauty.

“This is something of which Anglo-Jewry should be hugely proud.”

Mr Zimmerman said: “We are delighted they were so moved and impressed by our vision for care for older people, which is now an exciting reality.”
