AN ANIMAL rescue centre near Potters Bar is looking to house a cat and her kittens this Christmas after she was abandoned having just given birth.
Bonnie, a little black cat with a white bib, aged two, was thrown out of her home after she had produced five kittens.
Her litter were brought to Southridge RSPCA Animal Centre, in Packhorse Lane, after they were spotted in a box near a riding stables, but Bonnie could not be found.
For three days staff fed them, every two hours day and night. Then on the fourth day, the lady who discovered the kittens walked into the centre with their mother.
She was found lying by the side of the road, unable to move, with her leg badly broken. She was rushed to Wood Street Veterinary Hospital in Barnet where she underwent emergency surgery.
Manager of Southridge, Anna White, said: “When she came back she was reunited with her kittens. What a wonderful sight.
“She was so pleased to see them, and after a lot of sniffing and licking she lay back and fed them all, a picture of contentment.”
The mum and kittens are now awaiting new homes at Southridge.
If you can help these cats, contact the rescue centre on 0300 123 0704, or visit every day except Wednesdays between 11am and 4.15pm (1pm to 4.15pm on Sundays).
