WOMEN using maternity services at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals have rated them about average compared to similar trusts.

Overall the two hospitals were rated “about the same” as others by 223 new mothers who gave birth there during February, a report released today by the Care Quality Commission revealed.

The only area of weakness identified by the findings was the choice women are given about home births, with the trust rated “worse” in the field.

For all other questions on items like care during labour and birth, care after birth and information about feeding their baby the department scored “about the same”.

The survey is released the day after hospital bosses announced plans to close the maternity ward at Chase Farm and centralise all services at Barnet Hospital will go ahead.
