A CELEBRATION was held to mark the 45th anniversary of a North Finchley school and the tenth anniversary of its headteacher.
Pupils at Queenswell Greek School in Woodside Lane joined families, teachers, friends of the school and headteacher Stella Nadiotis for celebrations at the Penridge Suite in Bowes Road, Friern Barnet.
The school is a member of the Greeks Parents Association and has been based at Finchley Catholic High School for more than 15 years.
To mark the event students performed a dance in national costume.
The school paid tribute to Kalipso Ponnou who was a teacher at the school for many years and died earlier this year.
Her husband, George Ponnou, was presented with a memorial plaque to honour her dedication to the school.
Thanks were also given to Mareanthe Karavis who was chairman of the parents' committee for 11 years.
Guests included the chair of Federation of Greek Cypriot Community Schools, Andreas Chimonas and the Very Reverend Archimandrite Damianos Constantinou who congratulated the school on its achievements.
Chair of the school, Marina Constantinou, said: “The children excelled by dancing exceptionally well and made their parents, grandparents and teachers proud.
“We look forward to the next 45 years.”
