Are cook books becoming passé?

If you are a keen foodie and want to find a new recipe will you go out and buy the latest cook book or are you more likely to go on line and pull off a recipe from one of the many food sites ? Sure Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith will always be in the book charts but increasingly people are turning to websites and phone apps for recipes. Because of this publishers and editors are increasingly reluctant to invest in unknown authors and pay out for food photography and design making it very difficult for budding chefs to get work published.

There are so many websites offering free recipes that are tried and tested with beautiful pictures : Epicurious.com, allrecipes.com and Mydish.com ( the latter has not only received investment from Dragons Den but has got a partnership deal with the Daily Mail). Cook books are great bedside reading material but you can take your ipad / mobile phone, lap top into the kitchen, wipe it clean and move from one culinary field to the other at the press of a button.

So following this trend, I have just launched the new Jewish Cookery Recipe Collection. This offers 300 recipes with colour photos and you can search by occasion, ingredient, course or cuisine. So for example if you are looking for a dessert at Passover or a dish with chicken this collection will provide the recipe and you can view or download them from your PC or with just one click from your iPhone or most smartphones. Now there is no excuse for boring mealtimes even if you are out and about a lot ! For access see www.jewishcookery.com and enjoy great meal times. Available for a small charge of just £2.99 (with £1 going to Jewish Care charity).

A happy Chanukah to all my readers.
