A COUNCILLOR says a scheme being pioneered in Golders Green to combat snow and ice in residential streets is “working well”.
The new initiative, known as Grit Guardians, was the brainchild of a council committee chaired by Tory councillor Dean Cohen, who has started it off in two streets in his ward.
The Tesler and Prager families in Highfield Gardens and Woodlands are charged with spreading and safeguarding grit bins in those streets to make them passable for residents.
Cllr Cohen said: “ “Like most people we never expected the plan to have to kick in so soon, but I am glad the initiative seems to be working well.
“If it works out I hope it can be extended to other areas across the borough.”
