Parents using Sure Start Centres must now meet the challenge of possible closure by getting organised.
The Government’s Big Society programme encourages the public to become involved in caring for our essential services. An initial meeting of parents with their ward councillors and staff should identify the costs involved in running a centre.
A working party could be formed with the object of developing a centre management committee bringing in a retired lawyer or making contact with local solicitor.
Sure Start centres could be used for other community purposes serving a wider age group. Do not wait, get organised now.
