BARNET residents can quiz the Mayor of London's chief crime advisor tomorrow on police plans to tackle violence.
Kit Malthouse AM, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Authority and deputy mayor for policing, will be discussing key crime-fighting strategies with Barnet residents at Alexandra Palace, as part of a series of five roadshows across the capital.
The Greater London Authority and the MPA held a similar set of roadshows earlier this year, and following their success, the second set have been launched to concentrate on crime.
Mr Malthouse said: “We need the public’s help to answer the vital question - what more can we do collectively to address violent crime, enabling effective and focused delivery?
“Quite rightly, Londoners expect me, the mayor, and colleagues from across the public sector to do our utmost to address violent crime. The roadshows will be an opportunity to identify further improvements in the way we work together.”
Residents from across north London are invited to the Alexandra Palace event, to ask questions on crime and community safety to Mr Malthouse, and either Ian McPherson, assistant commissioner for territorial policing, or Lynne Owens, deputy assistant commissioner.
Mr Malthouse added: “Huge progress has been made to ensure London is a safe city – this year alone serious violence has reduced by 21 per cent.
“While we can be proud of the work that has helped to achieve this reduction, more needs to be done to reduce all types of violent crime and crucially to convince our communities that things are improving.”
