A CLUB for former servicemen is holding an evening to raise money for Help for Heroes tomorrow.
The event will take place from 4pm to midnight at the East Barnet Valley United Services Club, in East Barnet Road.
There will be a raffle, lucky-dip, face painting, karaoke disco and hairdressers will be cutting hair for free.
Alan Heinrich, who is described as a relaxed hippy in his 60s, will have his ponytail shaved off and Shane Boalders, 32, will have his chest waxed in aid of the charity.
The event has received a lot of support from small businesses in the area, including Vision Care and LA Fitness, in East Barnet Road.
Ivan Bray, who has been a member of the club for more than 30 years, said: “Because we are an ex-servicemen’s club and because Remembrance Sunday has just gone, we thought it would be nice to raise some money for the injured soldiers.”
Mr Bray added: “We’ve already had a lot of support in the community – we hope to raise between £2,000 and £3,000.”
Admission to the event, which is open to the community, is £1.
