A WHETSTONE bar with a track-record of problems will not be allowed to trade for the next four weeks after a mass brawl outside it last weekend.

Police triggered an emergency licence hearing today following the problems outside Sutra in High Road, at around 2am on Sunday.

One man was arrested and cautioned for breach of the peace but several people had to be dispersed by officers after bottles and glasses were used as weapons.

Several people received head injuries but refused to report a crime to police who reported staff at the staff venue giving a similar response.

This morning members of Barnet Council's licensing committee agreed to suspend the licence for 28 days pending a full review of activities at the bar, which reopened in May after a £400,000 overhaul.

The trouble followed a litany of incidents at the club, which was opposed by around 60 local residents and all the ward councillors at the licensing meeting in May.

On July 31 metal barriers were thrown at door staff after a fight inside the club which spilled out onto the street.

Panicked clubbers were forced to flee when a man drove a car at the queue and collided with a wall on September 19, while six days later a bottle of spirits was used in a glassing inside the club.

In June ex-Baywatch beauty Pamela Anderson attended a VIP night at the club.

The owners now face a full licence hearing next month to determine whether the club will be able to reopen and whether any new conditions will be added to the licence.
