It will be good to get the Watling Boys Club reopened and brought back into use (‘Boys club should not go to waste’, Times Series, November 11).

It should not have closed down in the first place to become a dilapidated and overgrown eyesore.

I know housing is important, but young people need a recreational area and it would be an injustice to fill it up with more housing so another crowd of young people have nowhere to go and socialise. There’s bound to be trouble when all they have is streets or pubs.

They need somewhere to play sport of some kind.

I hope this sensible scheme materialises for the good of the young people who will benefit. It could go a long way in discouraging underage alcohol drinking.
