AN MP and councillors will pick up their paintbrushes as part of a good deeds day on Sunday.
Finchley and Golders Green MP, Mike Freer, and Barnet councillors will paint a lounge and hallway at a Norwood’s Supported Living home, in Finchley, in support of Mitzvah Day, a Jewish-led initiative which encourages people across the globe to give their time to charities rather than their money.
A number of volunteers will be taking part in similar projects within Norwood, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.
Members of the Edgware Reform Synagogue and Cheder students will be making Chanukah cards for Norwood residents.
At Norwood’s Kennedy Leigh Family Centre, in Hendon, children and their parents will paint murals and clean toys.
There will also have a “collectathon” of hats, scarves and gloves and in the evening they will hold an “Antiques Roadshow”.
Norwood will be making cakes for all of the Mitzvah Day volunteers at the Norwood Deli in Hendon.
