EX-SERVICEMEN and their families were among 90 people to pay their respects to those fallen in battle at the Golders Green war memorial on Sunday.
Several children were among the crowd who gathered at the event, organised by the local Rotary Club, for Remembrance Sunday.
At 11am bugler Paul Davis sounded the last post and wreaths were laid on behalf of 88-year-old Judith Tucker, whose pilot brother Peter Robinson was killed in action aged 21.
Another was laid Sandra Papier in memory of her ex-soldier husband David, who used to organise the annual event until his death two years ago, while David Freed laid a wreath for the club.
Club president Ian Addleson said: “It was poignant to see at least five children under the age of ten present, one of them having the purpose of the occasion explained by his mother in front of the wreaths.
“It is reassuring to see this and to know that the honouring of those who sacrificed themselves in the service of their country is being passed on to successive generations.”
