A SCHOOL is bringing festive fun to Monken Hadley as it prepares to host its annual Christmas fete.
Monken Hadley Primary School, in Camlet Way, will be holding its 21st fete on Sunday, December 5, and the Friends of Monken Hadley have been hard at work to make this year’s one to remember.
Presents will be handed out in Santa’s Grotto and there will be a chocolate fountain and a variety of stalls selling everything from cakes and gifts, to flowers and jewellery.
Kyra Meeke, a member of the Friends group, said: “We hope to raise over £1,000 and of course, all of that will be going straight back into the school.”
The fete is one of the group’s many fundraising events which helps raise money for school equipment, educational trips and the welfare needs of underprivileged children.
Smaller businesses in the High Barnet area, including Quality Jewellers, in High Street, and Wings restaurant, in Potters Road, have contributed prizes and donations.
Mrs Meeke, whose son Jack, five, attends the school, added: “It really is a jolly community event for all to enjoy. The more people who come, the happier we will be.”
As well as a visit from Santa, Councillors Wendy Prentice, David Longstaff, Bridget Perry and Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers, will be attending the event, from 12pm to 3.30pm.
