TWO Potters Bar county councillors have offered funds for Hertmere’s volunteer police cadets.
The money, from Hertfordshire County Council’s locality fund, will go towards essential items for the group's training events.
Councillor Eddie Roach (Conservative, Potters Bar East) has contributed £850 from his locality budget, and Councillor John Usher (Conservative, Potters Bar West and Shenley) has contributed £400.
They were joined by Councillor Alan Plancey (Conservative, Borehamwood North) who has contributed £1338, Councillor Morris Bright (Conservative, Borehamwood South) who contributed £2771, and Councillor Caroline Clapper (Conservative, Watling) who contributed £502.60.
The cadets are young people from across the borough who have an interest in the police service.
They train in Borehamwood and will now be able to buy equipment such as camping gear as well as pay for travel and accommodation costs for training events.
The money will supplement funds already allocated for the cadets from Hertfordshire Constabulary.
The cadets take part in community-based police activities such as crime prevention work and receive training from the police including NVQs in leadership skills.
Locality budgets were launched in July last year with each of the 77 members of the county council given £10,000 to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes.
