HENDON police training college is being investigated after a gay trainee officer hanged herself citing homophobic bullying in her suicide note.
Recent graduate Lara Goldie, 28, is believed to have left a four-page letter claiming staff at the Metropolitan Police's Hendon training college were prejudiced because of her sexuality.
She made the same charge against colleagues at Haringey police where she took up her first post as a PC in April.
It is also understood she had recently split with a long-term girlfriend.
Miss Goldie, of Hackney, was found dead at her east London home at 10.30am last Sunday.
The Metropolitan Police Directorate of Professional Standards has now launched an inquiry into her death, and will question both her colleagues and Hendon staff over the allegations.
Haringey police said they are unable to comment while the investigation is ongoing.
Miss Goldie, who joined the Met as a Police Community Support Officer in 2007, had not made any complaints of homophobia before her death.
A Met spokesman said: "Her death is not being treated as suspicious. It is tragic that a young officer has died.
"At this sad and difficult time, our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues."
A post mortem examination was carried out at Poplar Mortuary last Tuesday. The preliminary cause of death was given as suspension by ligature.
An inquest opened and adjourned the following day, and will resume following the Met's inquiry.
