Kathryn Salomon, 60, of East Finchley (pictured), is one of the subjects of The V Word.

She has been volunteering for Pets As Therapy (PAT) for nearly five years, taking her retired racing greyhound to residential homes.

Gracie, who was racing last year at Walthamstow, made her first school visit at the end of the summer term, to Martin Junior School in East Finchley.

She and her owner were at an assembly of 300 pupils.

They also visit Jewish Care's Rela Goldhill Lodge, Limes Avenue, Golders Green, a residential home for younger people with physical disabilities and brain injuries.

"I really enjoy the work I do, and find it very rewarding and satisfying. Gracie also enjoys her visits," said Mrs Salomon.

Mrs Salomon said of her portrait: "I think it's wonderful PR for the charity. Every charity needs good PR, and that is why I volunteered for the project.

"And Lorentz was very nice. He takes lots of photos.

"Having a portrait done was never one of my burning ambitions in life. But they needed to represent a range of volunteer choices."
