Watching Eastenders last Thursday, I was shocked to see the character Leo stumble out of a drug den into..... North Mall, Edmonton Green!
It is a sad reflection on Enfield Council that a TV company considers Edmonton Green a suitable 'set' for a drug related scene, i.e. run down and filthy.
Granted work has now commenced on improving Edmonton, but this work was due to be completed this summer - had this happened, then the BBC would have looked elsewhere for its shabby location.
The people of Edmonton deserve better - the sooner the development has finished, the sooner we can shake off this image. However, from the pictures on the hoarding surrounding the building site, it looks like the facia of the new buildings will be bright yellow and green - do the people of Edmonton deserve this?
