It must now be obvious, even to the most die-hard Labour supporters, Gordon Brown's economic bandwagon has hit the buffers of harsh reality.
The cold facts are, a spending spree using borrowed money is eventually going to implode.
It is now pay back time and that's okay if you can afford it, perhaps with a self-awarded inflation-proof pension or the like, but for the average victim it is extremely hard.
Borrowing on the back of encouraging property prices and honey trap credit is not a good idea when living in new Labour's spend now pay later fantasy land.
Don't be surprised if we have a recession. We can survive, but only with change.
I have always believed the late Robin Cook would have made a good leader. The country is a lot poorer now without him.
